Jordan Moody is a painter, photographer, and musician living and working in Ontario, Canada. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and followed up with a Creative Writing Certificate from Yale University. After many years working in film production across Montreal, Los Angeles and Toronto, Jordan committed to her full-time art practice in 2020.

Jordan’s work explores personal dreamscapes, the colour of memory, and reflects the ever-changing natural world. Working with alcohol ink, gold leaf, and a palette knife, Jordan paints the atmospheric and ethereal. Capturing light and landscapes, building in layers, Jordan’s paintings capture the etheric quality of light, inspired by golden hour sunsets and the Canadian landscape she grew up exploring.

“My work is found and formed at the intersection of what I see and how I feel.”

Visually and viscerally I explore the expression of two worlds at once, my inner world and the natural world around me. Holding and expressing the tension of opposites includes where I am and where I want to be, who I was and who I am, who I am and who I want to be etc. My work is my way of exploring different perspectives and finding harmony between them.

        My paintings reflect my love of nature and exploring the outdoors. Being Canadian, I have been able to experience all four seasons my entire life. I love dramatic weather, thunder storms, waking up to snow covering my driveway, and the golden hour of light before the sun sets every night. My paintings are inspired by the natural world outside of me, and the personal dreamscapes. In my opinion blue, green, and gold are neutrals in my personal palette because they are found in the natural world around us all. My hope is that every painting reflects simplicity, beauty, and a sense of calm as I bring my inner world outside.
